Para Site launches The Unappropriated Recipes
An unconventional recipe book
The Unappropriated Recipes, the newest project by Hong Kong’s Para Site, makes for a rather unorthodox recipe book.
After a successful Kickstarter campaign at the tail end of last year, this collection of eighty “community-sourced unconventional recipes”—some more edible than others—is now launching. Expanding the field beyond the food itself, the book also includes personal experiences and imagined worlds, all of which contribute to a collective sense of Hong Kong. Among its assorted contributions, artist Sheela Gowda writes to a long-departed friend about a recipe they once shared, while Ming Wong’s fictional love story has Hong Kong as its backdrop.
The book launches on 20 April at Constant’s Hong Kong space, and includes a “three course meal of performances”—from a Thai ‘book’ salad to insect pudding. Read all about it here, or purchase your own copy of the book here.
